Lucy and Will married at St George’s Church in Leeds city centre back in the autumn. Their wedding reception followed at The White Cloth Gallery in the city. As I write this blog, I’ve just discovered that the venue unfortunately closed down in January. If you’re looking for an art gallery in Leeds, or a less traditional wedding venue, there are many others in the area, so don’t despair if you were hoping to hold an event there! Weddings can also be held at venues such as Leeds Art Gallery, The Tetley, Left Bank Leeds, or perhaps Thwaites Mill.
On the morning of the wedding, I joined Lucy and her bridesmaids, who were getting ready at Quebecs Hotel in the city. Colin joined Will and his groomsmen at the church a little later. We’re always happy to work around your plans for the day, and if you’d rather not have one of us join you whilst you’re getting ready in the morning, we don’t have to! It’s your wedding so we can join the day whenever you’re ready for us.
After a beautiful ceremony at St Georges, guests were transported to the reception by a vintage bus shuttle. Will and Lucy arrived ahead by wedding car so whilst guests were arriving at the gallery, we took the opportunity to do a bride and groom portrait session. It was a very windy, chilly day due to Storm Brian but Will and Lucy were troopers and wanted to make sure we made time for some photos. Particularly as we knew rain was on its way, so we took advantage of it being dry whilst we could! It was also great for us to have an urban backdrop to use, rather than the usual countryside locations we find ourselves at. Much as we love those too, it’s great to have a different and exciting creative challenge!
After that, it was all about mingling with their guests and enjoying the rest of the day. We had a fantastic day with Will and Lucy and topped it off with a burger on the train home (usually not possible when we’re driving!) Ha!
What did Will and Lucy say about us?
“Lucy and I would just like to say thank you so much for being our wedding photographers. We loved the wedding day and even though it still seems like yesterday, it is great to be reminded of all the details and action in such an artistic way. The outdoor photos were also fantastic, despite the storm conditions of the day! We were still laughing about the veil taking off! Thank you for the memory stick, but also for the lovely gift and sweets as well. A very thoughtful touch.”
