What an amazing time we had at Rebecca and Stephen’s wedding at Utopia on the Broughton Hall Estate! It’s one of our favourite local venues, and it was made even better with such a fantastic couple to work with.
Colin joined Rebecca for bridal prep in the morning, whilst I headed over to The Tempest Arms in Elslack for groom prep with Stephen. (TIP: The Tempest Arms is just a couple of minutes away from the Broughton Hall Estate. So if you’re not staying on the estate the night before your wedding, it’s an ideal place to stay nearby.)
Rebecca and Stephen’s ceremony took place at the pretty, rural church of All Saints’, Broughton. The weather treated us well on this June weekend, which made Rebecca and Stephen’s post-ceremony plans all the better! They and their guests walked to Utopia, with drinks served from a table set up en route. What a great idea, and it made for some lovely photos.

So, Colin walked along with everyone whilst I dashed back to Utopia to take some detail shots of the beautiful decor, before everyone arrived. There is often a very distinct advantage to having two of us photographing your day, and this was one of them (not to mention being able to split up and cover both of you getting ready in the morning, if you want us to!)
More welcome drinks were served on arrival at Utopia and our happy couple had provided guests with a huge array of drinks to choose from!
Rebecca and Stephen were a joy to photograph in their bride and groom portrait session. They were keen for us to spend as long as we needed with them–as Rebecca put it, “these are the photos we’ll have to look back on, so we’re happy to spend time on them!” Music to our ears, and Utopia is a fantastic spot for wedding photos, with plenty of backdrops to choose from.
We never take couples away from their celebrations for hours on end, but we do appreciate 30 minutes with you during the drinks reception (and another 5-10 minutes later in the evening, if the light is looking amazing!) It’s well worth the time spent on the day, for a lifetime of looking back on them.
The wedding breakfast followed, with beautiful food from caterers, With A Twist. Rebecca and Stephen very kindly seated us with their guests, so we felt very much a part of the celebrations, and as an added bonus, we’re able to pick up our cameras in between courses to capture a bit more of the day, that we’d ordinarily miss if we’re tucked away elsewhere.
What did Rebecca and Stephen say about us?
“Thank you so much for our amazing photos – they are truly wonderful and have captured so many happy memories for us! You put us at ease from the love shoot, right through the day – we are really grateful! All our love… P.S. We hope you enjoyed celebrating with us as well as working!!”
We truly had an amazing day with Rebecca and Stephen, and send all our thanks to them for making us feel so welcome on the day, and looking after us so well, which in turn made our jobs so much easier.
