Sinéad and David’s spring wedding at Newton Grange took place back in May, although it was decidedly chilly for May! But not to worry–their marquee was beautifully decorated (by themselves, I hasten to add) and guests enjoyed mingling with lots of fun and laughter, all day long and into the night. I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a great time, and Sinéad and David were a pleasure to work with–such a lovely couple.
In case you didn’t know, a typical day for us consists of us splitting up in the morning so that we can cover each of the bride and groom getting ready (a lovely advantage to having two of us!) We tend to mix this up, so sometimes Colin will be with the bride, and I’ll be with the groom, and then sometimes the other way round. It keeps things fresh and interesting for us.
On this occasion, Colin spent a couple of hours with Sinéad at Newton Grange before she made her way to the church (St Andrew’s in Gargrave) for the ceremony. David wasn’t too keen on having someone with him first thing in the morning, which is absolutely fine–we’ll always work with whatever your plans are–so instead, I headed off to meet him and his groomsmen at the pub across the road from the church a bit later. A bit of Dutch courage for the ceremony? 😉
After a lovely ceremony, our couple and their guests all headed back to Newton Grange, just down the road. The venue is one of our favourites and is a perfect place for a marquee wedding–there are fields and lots of open countryside, and it feels very rural and tucked away, even though it’s just a few minutes from Gargrave and Skipton.
There are also six holiday cottages on site (sleeping up to twenty-seven guests in total) providing a convenient accommodation option for you and some of your guests.
We had a great time with Sinéad and David, and wish them all the very best for their future together. I know they have had to deal with a huge loss in the family since the wedding, and I can only hope that, in time, they’ll be able to look back on the photos from the day and treasure them all the more.
What did Sinéad and David say about us?
“Thank you both for the beautiful photos you took of our wedding. We were concerned as we realised we had hardly given you any time for our ‘couple’ shots, due to the cold weather, but we love the ones you have taken. The photos are exactly as we wanted—informal, and provide some great memories of what was an unforgettable day for us. So thank you both again for being so much fun to work with and providing us with some great memories.”
One more quick mention must also go to the caterers, Delicious Catering. It’s now been over two months since this wedding and I don’t think I’ve had a more delicious meal at a wedding since (if ever!) Along with all the wedding guests, we were served an amazing lamb tagine and if the rest of their menu is anything to go by, I’d definitely recommend them to you! Thanks for looking after us–it is always much appreciated on a long and busy wedding day.
