We’ve been so busy in the last month or so that I’m getting behind with blogging (which just won’t do!) and I’ve been dying to blog Rose and Tom’s Somerset wedding celebrations ever since we got back last month. So here it is…
We were thrilled when Rose and Tom asked us to photograph their wedding in York in April but even more excited when they told us that they were having a second celebration in Somerset at Rose’s family home, and that they wanted us to travel down and photograph that too.
So last month we drove down to Ilminster (for future reference, it’s a bad idea to do this on the Friday afternoon of a bank holiday weekend!!) and enjoyed some glorious weather for their second big day.
After bacon and egg sandwiches at Rose and Tom’s cottage (complete with amazing views!) we spent some time in the grounds of Rose’s beautiful family home for a mini portrait session, complete with horses and a new foal! Then it was time to get changed into their finery all over again (what a great excuse to wear your wedding dress again, eh?) and welcome their guests for the day.
Oh, and can I also mention that Rose became the new Mayor of Ilminster just days before…possibly the youngest Mayor ever? This lady is seriously one of the most hard-working, determined people I’ve met and I have no doubt she’ll be a great influence in the future!
I (Heather) spent lots of time taking photos of Darcy the dog, who was just gorgeous. I’m such a sucker for a cute face and he was such a friendly soul.
Mmmmn, hog roast!
Rose and Tom were keen for us to spend as much time as we could with them for some bride and groom portraits so we had a few little sessions with them throughout the day, and when we saw the magical light happening as the sun started to fade, we couldn’t miss the opportunity for some more shots, and even managed a night portrait later on as well. Whilst we don’t spend hours with couples on their wedding day and drag them away from mingling with loved ones for too long, we do think it’s the icing on the cake to spend some time together for some natural, relaxed portraits of the two of you to treasure and look back on fondly in the years to come. It was fantastic to be able to spend a bit of extra time with Rose and Tom on their ‘second wedding day’ and to create some lasting memories in what is a very special setting for Rose.
Many thanks to Rose and Tom for looking after us so well (as well as Rose’s mum and Tom’s parents who are all wonderful) and thank you for sharing two very special days with us – it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of everything.
