As one of The Devonshire Fell’s tried and trusted suppliers, we always love photographing here, so it was our pleasure to be asked to take Sofia and Matt’s Devonshire Fell wedding photos back in September.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we were on hand at the Fell’s open day/wedding fair and met lots of lovely couples in the process of planning their weddings. We’ll be back again in May this year, if not before, to photograph another wedding at the venue, so it’s definitely up there in our favourite local venues list!
Sofia and Matt chose to have a relaxed day, with both their ceremony and reception taking place at the hotel. They also both got ready in separate rooms at the venue that morning. When you have everything happening in one place, it often leads to a much more stress free day. All the worry of travel time and traffic is taken out of the equation, for both you and your guests! And of course, less travel time means more time to enjoy the day with your family and friends as well.
Matt hired a classic Morris Minor from Classic Car Hire Yorkshire which he drove to the hotel with his best man. It obviously had to feature in he and Sofia’s bride and groom portraits, so we all hopped in during the drinks reception and took a (very!) short drive just across the road for some photos.
More about weddings at The Devonshire Fell
The Devonshire Fell is a beautiful boutique hotel in the pretty Yorkshire Dales village of Burnsall. Every couple we’ve photographed here has been bowled over by the views, which are a huge plus point of having your wedding here.
With just 16 bedrooms, the Fell is yours on an exclusive use basis for your wedding, meaning you and a few of your guests can also stay at the hotel, and make full use of the facilities on offer.
The service is always friendly and helpful here, and the food is also delicious! We always feel at home here, and it’s such a lovely place to work (which, honestly, I can’t say of all venues).
The other great thing about the Fell is that it’s dog friendly! If you didn’t know, we’re huge fans of dogs at weddings, so if you’re considering a venue that will let you have your pooch along for the celebrations, this could be the one!
For photos, you have a variety of options. If you want to head down the hill into Burnsall, it’s a great place for photos on the green, by the river, and on the bridge. Alternatively, if the weather isn’t playing ball, or you’d prefer to stay at the hotel, it’s perfectly possible to use the gardens outside for photos. The front lawn is also great for any group/family photos you may wish to have.
What did Sofia and Matt say about us?
“Would highly recommend Colin and Heather! Absolute professionals in every single aspect. We love our wedding photos and couldn’t imagine them any better. Thank you to you both for being a part of our special day and capturing every moment! You were both amazing!”
