We managed to get another gorgeous spring day for Becky and Jon’s wedding at The Devonshire Arms (a stunning venue and only 10 minutes down the road for us!) and some glorious light for photos towards the end of the day, so we managed to sneak in some more photos with them before they hit the dancefloor.
The day started with Colin over at the Devonshire with the girls whilst they were getting ready, and me (Heather) over at the Cow and Calf pub with the boys; although they weren’t there for very long…it was over to the hotel pretty early for pre-wedding drinks!
Becky had arranged for us to take some photos down at Bolton Abbey after the ceremony which was great. Although we spend most of the day in the background taking photos of things ‘as they happen’, I can’t tell you how much we love getting to spend a bit of time with just the two of you. We always recommend about 30 minutes for your couple’s portraits. If we get a few minutes more, that’s wonderful too, but anything less than 20 minutes and we’re just not doing you justice.
The most precious photos from our own wedding are those of the two of us from that time we spent with our photographer. Yes, the ‘moments’ are precious too, but it’s the couple’s portraits that I always think of and look at the most (even 7 years later!) So naturally, when it comes to what we do as photographers, we believe it’s really important to set aside a bit of time for those photos. And I promise you, you will appreciate that time away from everyone, to catch your breath and take it in that you’re actually married now! You’ll be surprised just how little time you get to spend together like that on the day.
Anyway, I’ll stop babbling and let you look at some of the photos! It was a wonderful day; Becky and Jon have had some sad times in the past year so it was beautiful to see how happy they made eachother, and everyone around them, on their wedding day. We wish them all the very best for their future together.
