Colin has just developed some film (yes, film!) he used on a trip back home to Bermuda in May so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share some of his Bermuda travel photography with you.
If you’ve met Colin, you’ll know he doesn’t have a British accent, let alone Yorkshire! Most people assume he’s American, and their second guess is Canadian, so when he tells them he’s from Bermuda, it’s a mixed reaction (and usually shock at why is he in Yorkshire?)
Most people don’t really have an idea of where Bermuda is (bravo if you do, but no it’s not in the Caribbean!) The islands are a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic (about 600 miles off the coast of North Carolina in the US).
Colin and I met there in 2005 when I was living and working there, but we settled back in the UK in 2012 when we started our photography business.
He’s lucky to have regular visits from his family, and every so often he’s able to fly home as well. If you scroll down you’ll be able to spot a photo of him with his dad, brother and nephew (he’s the one on the left in the hat!) Three generations of Murdoch men!
Bermuda is such a colourful place, from the pink sand and turquoise ocean, to the pastel coloured houses and lush greenery. It’s a photographer’s dream!
For those who are curious, these images were all shot on film with Colin’s vintage Nikon N2020 AF plus either a 50 mm 1.8 or a 55 mm 3.5 macro lens.
