It was our first ever visit to Angrove Park for Chris and Jo’s wedding in September, but I hope it won’t be our last! We’re big fans of outdoor, country weddings and we’re lucky enough to be able to photograph quite a few of them, living in the North Yorkshire countryside.
The weather could have gone either way on Chris and Jo’s day. Colin and I travelled up to Great Ayton through torrential rain showers, so I was a little worried that their humanist wedding ceremony would have to be conducted inside the tipi. However, when we arrived at Angrove Park, the sun was breaking through the clouds, and it turned out to be the most perfect, warm, sunny day. Driving home later, we encountered more rain so it was almost as if someone up there had kept a special rain-free patch overhead just for Chris and Jo!
So, the humanist ceremony was able to take place outside, and all the guests took full advantage of the beautiful weather by spending most of the day enjoying the sunshine outdoors. It really was a perfect day for all.
Angrove Park is in a secluded location, surrounded by woodland, with stunning views in every direction. There are plenty of options for guests to stay over during your celebrations. We loved the cute wooden camping cabins, and the converted bus in the woods which our happy couple stayed in. There’s also another converted bus on the site, which doubles as an amazing bar!
We were very well looked after by the staff at Angrove Park (thank you!) Thanks also to the amazing lunch caterers, The Market Wraps Allotment, for feeding us with a gigantic Yorkshire pudding wrap each!
Chris and Jo were a pleasure to work with–they were happy to spend a bit of time with us for some special photos of the two of them, whilst the rest of the day was spent capturing the more natural documentary style shots of guests and the couple enjoying themselves.
I loved Jo’s floaty, boho-style dress and how she wasn’t afraid to get stuck in and play outdoor games with everyone in it either!
What did Chris and Jo say about us?
“Just wanted to say thank you again! You both made us feel completely at ease and we really enjoyed the shoot! You were a huge part of making our wedding completely awesome, so thank you.”
