It had been a while since we’d photographed a wedding at this country pub venue in Lancashire, so it was lovely to return this year for Fran and Andy’s Alma Inn wedding photography near Colne.
One of our favourite shoots of the year was with this lovely couple, who chose an evening pre-wedding shoot in the summertime. Now of course, we can’t guarantee the English weather from one day to the next, but if you do want to take advantage of any potentially gorgeous, glowing sunlight (that is oh so flattering to almost anyone!), a summer evening is the time to do it!
True to form, the weather wasn’t quite so spectacular for Fran and Andy’s August wedding, but the sun did still peek its way through in the evening for a brief moment (which we took full advantage of!)
The rest of the day was overcast and slightly rainy, for the most part, but nobody’s spirits were dampened. I joined Andy and his groomsmen, getting ready at home, whilst Colin joined Fran at her family home. The wedding ceremony took place at Christ the King RC Church in Burnley, a small brick building which felt much larger on the inside, than it looked from the outside!
More about Alma Inn weddings
After the ceremony, and a few group photos, we headed back to The Alma Inn in Laneshawbridge. A rural pub venue, nestled in the Pendle countryside, the Alma Inn has a stunning room at the back of the building, perfect for wedding receptions. There are spectacular views from all around the inn.
Inside, the inn is exactly what you’d expect from a country pub–stone floors, wooden beams, and roaring fires when it’s chilly.
The Alma Inn is licensed for civil ceremonies, so you can have your whole day here if you’d like to. Or do as Fran and Andy did and marry elsewhere before heading here for your reception.
If you need accommodation, the inn has several bedrooms for you or a handful of guests to stay overnight as well.
What did Fran and Andy say about us?
“Thank you both so so much for the stunning photographs you captured of our wedding day. We’re absolutely delighted with them all. Thank you for being so easy to work with and for putting us at ease.”
Thanks guys, it was a pleasure!
